Email Back Up
How to Back Up Your Outlook Express

Outlook-Express-Backup.Com

download a handy utility to backup Outlook Express email messages, accounts, rules, address book, signatures, and blocked senders.

Up until two weeks ago, this page had a very long, drawn out procedure outlining how to back up bits and pieces of your Outlook Express email data. It was only for advanced users and it wasn't exactly what you would call thorough. OK, it was pretty lame, but it was the best way I knew of.

Basically, it covered how to export your address book and how to write down all of your email server settings and a bunch of other boring, technical stuff that took a LOT of time and effort. But hopefully, all of that is about to change. I removed all of this instruction to make room for this story. I hope you read this and are able to benefit from it.

I've recently stumbled upon a new utility for making backups of your Outlook Express email data. It's called THE OUTLOOK EXPRESS BACKUP WIZARD. This utility claims to back up all of the important stuff such as messages, news, identities, signatures, message rules, blocked sender lists, and more.

If this program does half of what it says it does, it will be worth a lot more than their asking price of just $40. I recently had a system crash and lost some VITAL data that was in a few emails I had recently received. I had PLANNED to print them off or back them up -- but forgot. I cannot even put a price on this info that I lost. I'm afraid to say how much I would pay - right now - to get this data back. Shame on me.

I was going to back my email up, but <begin pitiful excuse mode> it is such a pain and takes so much time because I use multiple identities and multiple email addresses <end excuse mode because THERE IS NO EXCUSE  for not backing up your data!> . So something like this program would be great for a guy like me. So I am testing it as we speak. I plan to do a complete review of this product within the next few weeks to let you know what I come up with.

I've looked at their site and, judging just from the screenshots, it looks very user friendly. It appears to have a step by step wizard <duhh, hence the name> to walk you through the entire process. How cool is that?! So I'm pretty anxious to see what this program can do. Anytime a software company comes out with a new product, they say they have "THE ANSWER" but few ever live up to the hype. I hope this one is different.

Like I said, if this program is half as good as they say, I'm all over it! And to make things even better, they offer a 30 day free trial! So you can try before you buy. As you probably know, fewer and fewer software companies offer this feature these days and that's a shame. It is so nice to try out a program before you buy it. Kudos to this company for offering a free trial.

Be sure to check back here in the next few weeks to check out my full review of this product. If you decide to check out the free trial, please be sure to contact me with any input about your findings. I'd like to get enough feedback from my visitors to post some of it here with my own results.

You can go to their site and download your own free trial version at http://www.outlook-express-backup.com.
