Open a New Window:

Opening a new window when clicking on a link...

Have you ever been surfing along, clicking from one site to another and suddenly discover that you cannot find your way back to the site you started at? This is a common problem when using a search engine. You do a search for a specific subject (let's say bird feeders) and you end up with about 200 thousand sites that deal with bird feeders. So you click on one link, then click a few more times as you explore that first site. The next thing you know, you can't find your way back to the search page that you started from. Now you'll need to do the search all over. This is really frustrating to me.

But there is a better way. You can use a nifty trick to open your links in a new window. Again, there are two ways of doing this. The first way is to right click on the link, then choose "OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW".

Another way to do this is to hold the SHIFT key and then click on the link. This will also open the new page in a new window.

By doing this, you can always keep the original page open. This makes it really easy to go back to the search page and find other sites for bird feeders. You can also keep several windows open and switch between them. All the while, your original search page is left open. I use this trick all the time. And I'm sure you'll find a lot of use in it too.

Go ahead, try it out right now. Hold down the SHIFT key and click on THIS LINK. And then try it the other way by right-clicking and selecting the "OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW" option.  Before you know it, you wont want to do it any other way.
